The Annual Henry Boezi Sportsmanship Award
Henry Boezi was an East Greenwich Town Councilman and an active citizen with Youth programs in the Town throughout his life. He spent over 25 years in the 70s and 80s as a coach and volunteer in East Greenwich Little League (EGLL). Each year EGLL honors Mr. Boezi with a boy and girl in the program who exemplifies the attributes, qualities and spirit of Little League. The award is voted on by EGLL General Board members through nominations by Coaches within the season. The Award recognizes players who provide;
Jeff Santos Sportsmanship Award – Softball
Jeff Santos is a lifelong resident of East Greenwich and a member of the EGHS Class of 1982. Jeff was a member of the East Greenwich Little League Board for over 15 years. He was the director of Girls Softball for 7 years, Vice President for 2 years and President for 3. During his tenure he rebuilt the program by establishing clinics, educating the girls and their parents in fast pitch softball and increased participation and the number of teams from six to ten. These girls later went on to play for the EGHS Softball Program, winning 3 State Championships.
Each year EGLL honors Mr. Santos with a girl in the Softball program who exemplifies the attributes, qualities and spirit of Little League. The award is voted on by EGLL General Board members through nominations by Coaches within the season. The Award recognizes players who provide;
- Provide positive attitude at all times.
- Helps and encourages teammates regardless of whether the team is winning or losing.
- Courtesy to other players.
- Always helpful and attentive with Coaches and Managers.
- Respect for Umpires and Officials during and after the game.
- Exemplifies the sprit that all EGLL players and coaches strive to be.
